Doorman delivers when you are home

3/18/2015

Some months ago, we sent a package to our son's home in California. He never got it.

The delivery service's tracking system said the package was dropped off and left on the front porch where it apparently wandered off.

Disappearing deliveries like that are what game birth to Doorman, a personalized delivery service that makes sure parcels get to where  they are supposed to go.

Doorman creates a personal shipping address that users can enter when they shop online or share with their friends, family members and employers. When a package arrives, Doorman signs for it and sends a notification to the recipient who uses the Doorman app to schedule a delivery.

That delivery could be any time bewteen 6 p.m. and midnight, seven days a week. If you're out of town, Doorman will hold the package until you return, whether that's next week or next month.

The service cost $3.99 per package or $19 a month for unlimited deliveries. Unfortunatey, Doorman is currently available only in San Francisco - those guys get all the cool stuff first - but the company plans to enter more cities this year.

Get the Doorman details at the Doorman website and follow their news @doorman_it on Twitter.
