BNearMe finds stuff that's close to you

7/08/2015

When I would be hungry forMiddle Eastern food, my habit would be to type “shawarma” into Google and hope for the best. If I was lucky, listings for a couple of local restaurants would turn up amid links to recipes, the Food Network and Wikipedia.

Now I’m more likely to use BNearMe. It’s a website that tames Google in order to show you products and services that are close by.

Here’s how it works: Go to the BNearMe website and in the search window, enter your location and what you’re looking for separated by the + sign. It might me Chicago + beer or 90210 + jewelry. Google serves up results that are organized to match your location.

BNearMe can be especially useful if you’re in an unfamiliar location and want to find the closest bookstore or sushi restaurant. Give it a test drive at the BNearMe website. You might find a shawarma shop that you hadn’t heard about.
