Web designers follow Google's lead

10/06/2015

Several years ago, when I was in charge of hiring and managing website designers, it was enough to find talented artists who could work with HTML and style sheets.

Today, I would look for people who are fluent in Material Design, the design language that Google rolled out last year.

Since then, Google has incorporated the design standard into many of its apps and sites, including Google Docs, Google Drive and YouTube.

Google also released application programming interfaces (APIs) that let third-party developers incorporate the design language into their applications.

Savvy digital developers are paying attention. The web design agency Clixlogix shared the infographic below. It illustrates the evolution of Google’s branding and design principles as they were deployed in the variations of the Google logo.

Clixlogix website, the agency offers a wide variety of web and app design services. The company builds sites from scratch or for the Wordpress framework and it creates apps for either Android or iOS platforms. More details are available on the Clixlogix website.
