If the new devices for home automation and control are so smart, why haven’t they learned to play nice together?

I have lights that work with one system, a thermostat that’s tied to another and a keyless door lock that doesn’t integrate with anything.

Florida-based Vitex Systems says it has a solution. It launched a service that uses a modular approach to link a variety of home automation and security devices under one system. They call it Uxari.

With Uxari, homeowners in western and central Florida can choose the equipment they want to install in their home and manage the devices from a single console or mobile app. The Uxari lineup of products includes devices for home security, thermostat control, remote video monitoring, lighting, programmable locks.

Customers can start with a basic package that might include a thermostat, a set of door locks and lighting control for a couple of rooms. Later, they could add a doorbell camera, smoke detectors, video monitors, and more smart lights.

The Uxari packages start at $19.99 a month. All packages include tech support, text message notifications and remote control management. Details about the packages and pricing is available on the Uxari website along with the complete list of devices and accessories.

You can also check out the Uxari blog and follow @UxariSmartHome on Twitter for advice and tips on home automation and security.
