Mine float down to the white sand beaches of the Florida Panhandle where I'm walking in the surf, looking for one of those big conch shells. You know, the ones that will deliver the sound of the surf when you hold it to your ear.
Alex knows what I'm talking about. He's the guy behind Pocket Seashell, an app that recreates the sound of the beach on an iPhone.
"This app is for everyone who dreams of summer, sunshine and sea beach in the office, in traffic, at home," Alex says on his website. "For everyone who remembers himself a child taking a seashell from the beach as a piece of freedom and charming ocean sound. Guys, this app is from me to you."
The app has two options: listen to the real sounds of the sea, surf and gulls as if you were sitting on the sea shore, or put it to your ear to get that seashell sound.
Pocket Seashell is being reviewed by Apple and should appear soon in the iTunes App Store.
