Where to get free barcodes and QR codes

We’ve become a scannable society. From the check-out scanners at grocery stores to the badges we get at work and at trade shows, scannable images are tracking the twists and turns of our daily lives.

Horizontal bar codes and square quick response (QR) codes were once the province of companies and their technicians. But today, anyone who needs a scannable code can easily get one.

Barcode Wire, a website that follows the barcode industry and its technology, now offers free code generators on its website and as plug-ins for Google’s Chrome browser.

The Chrome Web Store has free apps for barcodes and for QR codes and the website’s main menu includes links to create both barcodes and QR codes. Both options offer codes in different formats and custom sizes.
